The Year 10 Football produced their best performance of the season for their biggest game with a stunning 4-2 victory over Kenilworth. In at times atrocious conditions, our whole team performance was magnificent. Kenilworth were probably confident coming into the game, but we started with a high intensity pinning them back from the whistle and deservedly took the lead through a ‘worldie’ from Beau Craig-Shearer. We had a string of further chances and were unlucky to concede an equaliser. This, however, didn’t phase us and we regained the lead again just before the break.
Following a positive half-time talk, we started the second half in the same attacking, high intensity style that had served us so well in the first half. Both teams had chances before an excellent counter-attacking move was coolie finished by Oscar Bailey. We increased our advantage further when some fancy footwork from Alex Costa forced Kenilworth into conceding a penalty, and George Williams, who had just come on calmly slotted it home. Kenilworth did rally towards the end, and although they did score a consolation at the death, were constantly thwarted by our excellent defence and superb Goal-keeper, Jack Pennington.
A huge congratulation to all the team. It is impossible to single out one player as it was a true team performance from 1-12. A great way to end the season and make amend for the final defeat last year. Here’s to Yr 11!
